Antique Folding Chess Backgammon Board Box.

An Antique Folding Chess Backgammon Board Box with green cloth Backgammon points on the reverse. The chessboard squares are boxwood and ebony veneer with inlaid ebony delimiters. The box measures 22-1/4″ x 17-1/2″ open and 17-1/2″ x 11-1/8″ x 4-0″ closed. The square size is 1-7/8″. The Backgammon points are 5-3/4″ long. The box is secured closed by two brass eye hooks. This antique is in very good condition with no damage. The finish lacks luster and could use a good coat of wax. It appears to have been produced in the early 1900s. The chessboard is designed to accommodate chessmen with a base diameter of between 1-1/4″ and 1-3/8″ and Draughtsmen or Backgammon stones around 1-1/4″ in diameter.
