This offering features an Antique Tournament Chessboard. The chess board squares are Sycamore and Walnut veneer with a wood veneer back and a solid, raised Mahogany frame with inlays. The chessboard measures 16-1/4″ square. The square size is 1-7/8″. The condition and finish of the chessboard is very for its age. Two of the miters are starting to open. The chess board appears to have been produced in the United Kingdom in the 1800s, possibly earlier. The chessboard is designed to accommodate chessmen with a base diameter of between 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″.
