Austrian Chess Set in Board Box.

Offered here is a boxwood and walnut Austrian chess set in a decorative inlaid chessboard box with two drawers to house the chessmen when not in use. The King stands 3-1/2″ tall. The chessmen sit atop green felt base pads. The Bishops from the two armies sort opposite colored finials. The chessmen and chessboard box are in like-new condition. These are chessmen designed in the manner of the Austrian Coffee House chessmen used throughout Europe throughout the later Victorian period. The age of this chess set, however, is unknown.
