Cavalier Home Edition Chessmen.
Offered here is a set of Vintage Cavalier Home Edition Chessmen, Alabaster and Walnut colored plastic, Product Number 1422. This is an Authentic Staunton design. The chessmen are mounted atop brown felt base pads. The chess set has a 2-7/8″ King with a 1.1″ diameter base. The chessmen and are housed in a somewhat worn partitioned, display box. The set is missing one Brown Rook and there is a ball finial missing from one White and one Brown Bishop, as shown. The other chessmen are in excellent condition. The display box is worn, but in tact. The Home Edition chess sets were put into production in 1973. The chessmen play best on a chessboard with 1-1/2″ squares, which is included in the box.
The chessmen are produced by the Pacific Game Company, North Hollywood, California, 91605. The sets were produced in a Walnut and Alabaster plastic colored plastic. The Cavalier sets were also produced in a full Tournament size with a full 4″ King and a 1.7″ diameter base, heavily weighted and felted.
