Offered here is a Magnetic Backgammon Travel Set. The Polished Walnut burl folding case measures 5-1/4″ x 4-7/8″ x 2″ closed and 5-11/4″ by 9-3/4″ open. The 30 Silver and Gold checkers measure 3/8″ in diameter. This set includes four miniature die and a doubling cube. The interior floor of the case and playing field are lined in a beige suede leather. The exquisite travel set dates to the 1960s. The set is made in Italy, but the manufacturer is unknown. The set is in excellent condition.
Backgammon is one of the oldest board games known. It is a two player game where the units are moved according to the roll of dice. A player wins by removing (bearing-off) all of his pieces from the board before the opponent. Backgammon is a member of the “Tables” family, one of the World’s oldest classes of board games.
