Antique Muslim Staunton Chessmen.
Offered here is a very unusual set of Antique Muslim Staunton Chess Pieces. The King stands 1.6″ tall with a 0.6″ diameter base. As is the Muslim tradition, the Knights are not depicted as living animals, but rather an abstract figure. Also, the two armies are differentiated by the two parallel blue rings around the bases of one side. The chessmen are housed in a green velvet-covered fitted case, lined in white silk. The chess pieces are in excellent condition. The box is in very good condition, but the exterior fabric is a bit faded. The chessmen date to the late Victorian period.
