Antique Staunton Library Chessmen.

Offered here is a set of English-made Antique Staunton Library Chessmen. These vintage chessmen are crafted from Boxwood and Ebony. The King stands 3.0″ tall with a 1.4″ diameter base. The pieces are weighted and stand atop green English baize base pads. The Boxwood pieces developed a pleasing heavy honey-hue over time. This Antique Chess Set is in very good-to-Excellent condition. The chess pieces are housed in a replacement box. The chessboard shown is not included.

This Antique Staunton Library set was most likely produced during the early part of the 1870s, but the maker of this set is not known.  The Knights are styled much in the manner of Knights found the Jaques early Zukertort style chess sets. The chess pieces are in very good-to-excellent-condition for their age. These Antique Staunton chessmen play and display best on a chessboard with1-7/8″ – 2-0″ squares.
