Arthurian Medieval Pewter Chess Set

Offered here is the very limited Extec Edition Arthurian Medieval Pewter Chess Set featuring King Arthur holding Excalibur, Sir Lancelot, and Gweneviere. The Rooks’ and Kings’ summits are accented with simulated Sapphire and Ruby crystals to match the color of their respective base enamel. The Pawns in the Blue army are dragons guarding a Saphire crystal, while the Pawns in King Arthur’s army are lions bearing the British Lio9ns holding a gold shield with an imbedded Ruby crystal.

This German edition has leather base pads bearing the names of each of the piece. The blue covered cardboard display box houses the wooden chessboard and has two removable fitted trays for each army.  The blue display box measures 16″ X16″.

This Fantasy chess set will transport the fortunate owner into the literary world of Tolkien and the even older Arthurian lore of dragons, fair maidens, castle towers, brave stallions, wizards and warriors. It is the imagery and narrative steeped in early European legend that has stirred our imaginations for centuries. The beautifully cast pewter chessmen will delight players young and old alike.

The Extec Edition Medieval chess sets were sold in very limited quantities through the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The display box and its contents are in excellent condition. The print has faded on a few of the chessmen. The Arthurian Medieval Pewter Chess Set dates to around 1960.
