Bedford Staunton Chessmen.
The Badford Staunton Chessmen is a new twist on a venerable design. The blended features of early Victorian style Bishops and the rounded King’s and Queen’s headpieces make an alluring presentation. The Natural and Ebonized Boxwood Chess pieces have beveled bases, are weighted and rest atop green felt base pads. The King stands 3-3/4″ tall with a 1-5/8″ diameter base. This set of chessmen includes an extra pair of Queens to assist during Pawn Promotion, a feature pioneered by Frank Camaratta in 1995. The chess pieces are housed in a House of Staunton Divided and lined red Mahogany box. The chessmen are new. The Drueke chess board is not included with these chessmen. These Bedford Staunton Chessmen play and display best on a chessboard with 2-1/8″ or 2-1/4″ squares. A suitable new or antique chessboard is available elsewhere on this site.
