Danish Hypermodern Teak and Ebony Chessmen.
This lot features a set of tournament-size Danish Hypermodern Teak and Ebony Chessmen. These minimalist style pieces turned from blocks of seasoned Teak and Gabon Ebony. The King stands 4-5/8″ tall with a 1-0″ diameter base. The Chess pieces are unweighted. This abstract design is somewhat reminiscent of the 1960s iconic modernist Anri Space Age chessmen by Arthur Elliott, among others. The chess pieces play and display best on a wooden chessboard with square sizes between 2-0″ and 2-1/4″. The contemporary chessboard shown is not included but a suitable chessboard can be found here. The chessmen are like new. and were likely produced in India around 2000.
