Mid-Century Minimalist Style Eames Aluminum Chessmen.
Offered here is a rare set of Art Deco Inspired Eames Minimalist Style Aluminum Chessmen. These unique Silhouettes were fabricated from extruded Aluminum by Alufa Aluminum company as gifts for their Executives and VIPs. This was a very limited production chess set. Only 100 sets were produced to celebrate the merger of the Alufa and Mifa companies. This is a complete set in a presentation box. The pieces are in excellent condition. The set is mid-20th Century German.
The modernist pieces are sliced from an extruded stainless-steel bar, natural and chemically blackened. The pieces are designed to suggest a subtle Staunton silhouette. The King stands 2.7″ tall with a 1″ square base. in excellent condition. The Mahogany storage box included, but not the chessboard. However, a suitable chessboard can be found here.
