Analysis Size English Antique Bone Staunton Chessmen.
Offered here is a set of Analysis Size English Antique Bone Staunton Chessmen manufactured in the U.K around 1900. These vintage chessmen are crafted from natural and red-stained bone. The King stands 1.9″ tall with a 1.1″ diameter base. All the chess pieces have unusually wide bases, which adds to their stability. The pieces rest atop green English baize base pads. The pieces are unweighted, which is typical for most al antique l ivory and bone chess pieces. The chessmen are in excellent condition. The chess pieces are housed in what appears to be their original green paper lined Mahogany hinge-top box, with a semi-mortise lock set and stop hinges, typical for the late 1800s. These Staunton chess sets were produced in several sizes. The chess pieces are in excellent condition for their age and the red dye is still strong. The chessmen play best on a chessboard with 1-3/8″ – 1-1/2″ squares. The chessboard shown in the images are not included in this offering.
