Description
Antique Bone Staunton Chessmen.
Offered here is a set of tournament-size Antique Bone Staunton Chessmen manufactured in Germany by Uhlig around 1900. These vintage chessmen are natural and red-stained bone. The King stands 3.4″ tall with a 1.3″ diameter base. The pieces rest atop green baize base pads, probably added later. The chessmen are in excellent condition and are housed in an unlined Mahogany slide-top box, possibly original. These Staunton chess sets were produced in several sizes. The chess pieces are in excellent condition for their age and the red dye is still strong. The chessmen play best on a chessboard with 2-1/8″ – 2-1/4″ squares. The antique chessboard shown in the images are not included in this offering. For our complete selection of new and antique chessboards, click here.
