Hallmark Christmas Chess Set 2004 – Keepsake Ornament Club Exclusive (QXC4012)
Offered here is the 2004 Hallmark Christmas Chess Set, produced exclusively for members of the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club.
The storage case is designed as a pair of decorative books that open to form a 13½″ red-and-green checkered chessboard with internal storage for the pieces.
The two armies:
- Santa’s side (red with gold accents): Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, elves, and Christmas trees.
- Polar Bear side (green with silver accents): Mr. & Mrs. Bear, snowmen, a white wolf, and Christmas trees.
Each chessman sits on a Hallmark-engraved circular base plate. The set was handcrafted by Hallmark studio artists.
Condition notes (please review photos carefully):
- One Christmas Tree bishop (green/polar side) is missing its star/snowflake topper. All other pieces are in excellent, as-new condition with no chips, breaks, or paint loss.
- The chessboard surface shows light scuffing and fine surface scratches consistent with age and storage.
- There is a noticeable irregular white spot on one red square where an adhesive label was improperly removed, leaving residual adhesive and some surface lifting.
The set remains complete and fully playable. Ideal for a Hallmark collector who prioritizes the rarity of this club exclusive over absolute mint-board condition.
