Hartston Style Staunton Chessmen, Small Club Size.

We are offering a set of Indian-made Hartston Style Staunton Chessmen, nicely weighted with green felt base pads. The King stands 4-0″″ tall with a 1-7/8″ diameter base, referred to in the literature as the Small Club Size. These chess pieces were intended to copy the Jaques Hartston Style Chessmen, which were produced in the very end of the 19th Century. This set of chessmen includes an extra pair of Queens to assist during Pawn Promotion, a feature pioneered by Frank Camaratta in 1995. These Boxwood chessmen are crafted from Boxwood and very attractive Indian Rosewood. The chessmen are housed in a fitted and lined rosewood storage case. The pieces are new.

These chess pieces play and display best on a chessboard with 2-3/8″ or 2-1/2″ squares. A chessboard is not included as part of this sale. Click here for a complete selection of our finest new and antique chessboards.
