Herman Ohme Abstract Wooden Chessmen.
This lot features a reproduction of the 1960s iconic Herman Ohme Abstract Wooden chessmen. This Danish Modern minimalist style Ohme Chess Set is crafted from Sheesham wood (Dalbergia Sissoo) and Boxwood (Gardenia latifolia).
The King stands 3-3/4″ tall with a 1-3/8″ diameter base. The Chess pieces are weighted and rest atop green felt base pads. The design was copyrighted in 1960 by Ohme and carries the U.S Patent No. 171-285. The chess pieces play and display best on a wooden chessboard with square sizes between 2-0″ and 2-1/4″. The contemporary chessboard shown is not included but a suitable chessboard can be found here. The chessmen are like new. Plastic versions of this set were originally produced in plastic by Ohme in Venice, CA.
