Jaques Marshall Style Polished Steel Chessmen.
Offered here is a very unusual set of Jaques Marshall Style Polished Steel Chessmen in a silver and pewter finish. The King stands 3-7/8″ tall with a 1-3/4″ diameter base. The chessmen are quite heavy and are cushioned with green baize base pads. The chess pieces are in excellent condition. The chess pieces are housed in a replacement divided and lined hinge-top box. These chessmen were not produced by Jaques, but rather a reproduction of a Small-Club sized Jaques Marshall-style set from around 1900. These metal reproductions probably date to the mid-1920s. The antique chessboard shown is not included in this sale. A suitable chessboard can be purchased elsewhere on this site.
