White’s Polished Aluminum Chessmen, Marshall Style.
Offered here is a very unusual set of Whites Polished Aluminum Chessmen in the Jaques Marshall Style in a silver and anodized finish. The King stands 3-7/8″ tall with a 1-3/4″ diameter base. The chessmen are quite heavy and are cushioned with green baize base pads. The chess pieces are in excellent condition. The original box shown on the left and in the galley is not included. The chess pieces are housed in a replacement divided hinge-top box. These chessmen were not produced by Jaques, but rather they are a reproduction of a Small-Club sized Jaques Marshall-style set from around 1930 by a Company named White’s Aluminum. These metal reproductions probably date to the late-1920s-early 1930s. The antique chessboard shown is not included in this sale. A suitable chessboard can be purchased elsewhere on this site.
