A set of Large King Arthur Chess Pieces. This is a ceramic-like Urethane version of the famous Anri Montsalvat chessmen. The King stands an impressive 9-1/2″ tall with a 2-3/4” base diameter. This is one of the largest and most detailed medieval themed chess set currently on the market. Each set is a handcrafted limited-edition work of art. This one is cast to simulate antique ebony and ivory. The Knight’s jousting lance is removable to minimize damage when packing or handling.
The pieces are cast from a high impact, scuff resistant urethane. Each piece is cast under pressure, which is a more expensive process and requires special. Most chess sets are fabricated from a much cheaper and less labor-intensive material, such as polyester resin, gypsum/plaster or ceramics, all of which are brittle and lack the fine detail found in this set. These chessmen are solid, not hollow. The pieces are quite durable and will serve as a lasting family heirloom. The chessmen play and display best on a chessboard Weith 3″ or 3-1/4″ squares. The chess pieces are new.
