Library Size Antique Bone Chessmen.
Offered here is a set of Library Size Antique Bone Staunton Chessmen manufactured in Germany by Uhlig around 1900. These vintage chessmen are natural and red-stained bone. The King stands 2-3/8″ tall with a 1-1/8″ diameter base. The pieces are unfelted and unweighted, which is typical for most al antique l ivory and bone chess pieces. The chessmen are in excellent condition except for a small chip on the red King, shown in the gallery. The chess pieces are housed in an old unlined Mahogany slide-top box, probably original. These Staunton chess sets were produced in several sizes. The chess pieces are in excellent condition for their age and the red dye is still strong. The chessmen play best on a chessboard with 1-1/2″ – 1-3/4″ squares. The antique chessboard shown in the images are not included in this offering.
