Lewis Inspired Medieval Chessmen.
Offered here is a set of Lewis Inspired Medieval Chess Pieces; the squat-style figure subjects are reminiscent of the famous Isle of Lewis Medieval Chessmen. The King stands 2.6″ tall with a 1-1.3″ diameter base. The pieces are crafted from a stone resin with an antiqued finish. The Royal chessmen themselves have a rather Alice in Wonderland character.
The chess pieces are in excellent condition. The Spanish chessboard shown is not included with this sale, but a suitable chessboard and storage box is included. Several other chessboards can be found here. These chessmen were likely produced around 1985, although an exact date can’t be verified.
