Small Traditional Italian Chessboard.

Offered here is a Small Traditional Italian Chessboard with a raised Mahogany fame and molding in the classical style. This chessboard was designed to accommodate the library-size Staunton chessmen as well as the smaller pre-Staunton English playing sets such as the Calvert, Lund, French Regence and Saint George styles. The chessboard measures 15-1/4″ over-all with a playing field having 1-5/8″ leather playing squares mounted on a wood backing.

The chessboard was likely produced inf Italy in the 1950s. The chessboard is in very good condition with some minor scuffing due to usage and long-term shelf storage. The chessboard is also designed to display the Anri wooden chessmen with smaller bases, such as sets in the Toriart series having base diameters around 1-1/4″ and smaller.
