Staunton Turquoise and White Porcelain Chessmen
Here is a striking set of Staunton Turquoise and White Porcelain Chessmen. The king stands at 3-5/8″ tall, the equivalent of a 4″ King with a cross finial. The base is 1-5/8″ diameter. The white army is trimmed in gold leaf, while the turquoise pieces are unadorned. The chess pieces are nested in the fitted velvet tray shown. The pieces are in like-new condition. The age of the chess pieces, and the maker, are unknown, but the pieces appear to be mid-20th Century. Neither the custom chessboard nor the Spanish chessboard with Black and white squares shown with the chessmen are included.
