Thimbles with Symbols Ceramic Chess Set.
A set of Thimbles with Symbols Ceramic Chess Set. Each of the thimbles is identified by a classical chess symbol traditionally used in chess diagrams fund in chess books and newspaper columns.
The glazed porcelain pieces are 1″ tall by 7/8″ at the base. The tops of the thimbles are “pimples” as you might find in the typical metal thimble. Included is the etched glass chessboard shown. The thimbles are housed in their original blue paper covered cardboard display box. The Display box shows some wear consistent with long-term shelf wear. The maker is unknown, but the gold rim and glazing would suggest that these sets were likely made between1970 and 1990. The chessboard and ceramic thimbles are in as new condition.
