Umbra Wobble Chess Set, NIB
Offered here is the unique Umbra Wobble chess set. The pieces are crafted from clear Maple and Walnut and feature a semi-spherical chrome-plated metal base. The King stands 3.6” tall. The chessboard is also crafted from solid Maple and Walnut with 2” concave squares which are joined together to form a “wave-like” playing field. The pieces can’t be upset or knocked over. This design offers a rather unique playing experience, with the pieces “bobbling” about after each move. This would make a rather “interesting” experience when played on a ship or on a floating raft in your private swimming pool. Getting the chessboard or pieces wet in NOT recommended. however.
This enigmatic design received an Award of Merit from HOW Magazine’s 2008 International Design Award competition. The set is unused and still in its original cardboard display box with its graphic jacket and a fitted foam insert.
