Vintage Hungarian MOM Chess Clock.

This offering features a Vintage Hungarian MOM Chess Clock with timing mechanisms mounted within a blond wooden housing. This mechanical analog clock features wind-up mechanisms which can be independently stopped by pushing a lever on the side of the clock. The dial has the words “MOM” and “Made in Hungary” printed on its face. Both the movements are in good working order. The housing is in very good condition with some scratches to the ack plate. The clock stands 4¼” tall, 9″ long and is 2″ thick at the base. It is housed in a walnut hinge-top box.

These Vintage Hungarian MOM clocks date from around 1950, They are often referred to as “Benko” clocks. These Timers were used in many clubs and could be found in use at tournaments of all levels throughout the Soviet Union and satellite countries in the mid 1900s.  Body of the clock is made from solid Beech wood. Timing mechanisms are mounted within the case and can be independently stopped by pushing a lever on the side of the clock. Rims around the dials are nickel-plated. The mechanisms are robust and reliable. Both dials have the company logo printed on their face.
