Lot #R341. Vintage Italian Clad Metal Roman Chess Set – Bronze & Silver Tone

A handsome set of vintage Italian Roman-themed clad metal chessmen. Both sides feature identical classical Roman figures finished in contrasting warm bronze plating and cool silver/nickel plating for clear visual distinction. The King stands 4-1/4″ tall with a 1-1/8″ diameter base. The chess pieces are in excellent condition.  This is a complete 32-piece chess set produced in Italy circa 1970s, suitable for display or casual play.

Produced in Italy during the 1970s, this set belongs to the popular mid-to-late 20th-century series of decorative historical theme chessmen made for the export and collector markets. The solid casting, detailed sculpting, and dual-tone plating give the pieces substantial presence and an attractive antique appearance.

These Vintage Chessmen play and display best on a chessboard with 2-0″ or 2-1/4″ squares. No chessboard is included with this offering, but a suitable chessboard can be found here.
