Offered here is the very limited Renaissance Fantasy Cold Cast Porcelain Chess Set. Each of these finely crafted chess pieces holds a magical crystal ball. The King stands 5-1/2″ tall and is standing atop a 1-1/2″ diameter base. Each of the chess pieces rests atop blue cloth base pads and bears the blue Orkney, Scotland, lozenge.
This Fantasy Renaissance chess set will transport the fortunate owner into the literary world of dragons, fair maidens, wizards and warriors. It is the imagery and narrative steeped in early European legend that has stirred our imaginations for centuries.
The chess pieces play and display best on a chessboard with squares measuring between 2-1/4″ to 2-1/2″. The chessboard shown is not included in this offering, but a suitable chessboard can be found here. The chess pieces are in perfect condition. These chess sets were sold in very limited quantities through Orkney in Scotland. This set of Renaissance fantasy chessmen dates to around 1980.
