Roman Legions Metal Chess Pieces, Copper Plated and Silver Finish
Offered here is a complete set of vintage metal Roman Legion chess pieces in contrasting copper and antiqued silver finishes, together with the thin Masonite chessboard shown in the photographs.These solid cast pieces capture the disciplined ranks of the Roman army in fine detail. One side is finished in copper; the opposing army appears in antiqued silver.
The King is portrayed as a bearded warrior in helmet and cloak, holding a large round shield with a bold central motif. Stands 3-3/4 inches tall with a 1-1/8″ base.
The set is complete with 32 pieces. The accompanying thin Masonite chessboard measures 15 inches square with 1-5/8″ squares. The chessboard is perfectly proportioned for these chessmen. The Roman Legion Chess Pieces were most likely cast in Greece around the 1970s.
