Offered here is a set of Porcelain Medieval Figural Porcelain Chessmen, vibrantly colored. This set of Medieval Figural Porcelain Chessmen blends historical artistry with playful whimsy. Crafted in the 1960s-1970s style. The chessmen were likely produced in an Eastern European foundry, such as Germany or Poland. This antique chess set features unique pieces: graceful female pawns with flowing hair and period attire, rearing horses, cylindrical tower rooks with textured brick detailing, elegant queens in veiled gowns, bishops as prelates in Bishops’ miters, and regal bearded kings holding scepters. The opposing sides contrast in vibrant green-yellow with red-yellow color schemes, all atop white porcelain pedestals adorned with intricate gold scrollwork.
The king measures an impressive 4-3/8 inches tall with a 1-1/4″ diameter base, making this an impressive display. All 32 pieces are in show very minor age-related wear that enhances its authentic vintage charm. This collectible chess set comes housed in its original black leatherette presentation box. The box, well-worn on the exterior with scuffs from decades of handling, features a black velvety interior with custom-fitted slots to securely store the chess pieces.
